Oracle announced about determination of “Operating system Distributor License for Java” (DLJ), which was enacted by SUN in 2006. This license is not open, however allows operating systems developers creating their own installation packages JRE and JDK and distributing them through repositories. License was enacted after opening Java source codes in 2006 in order to provide users with an easy access to technologies using OpenJDK. Oracle claims that users hardly need new Java implementation since OpenJDK6 exists, which is considered to be assured, reliable and therefore standard package of Java in most of installation packages by Linux. Moreover, OpenJDK 7 is now available. Main criticism concerned to the fact that many projects were closely connected to binary Java coding, and a complete transfer to OpenJDK would course system failures. Oracle recommends informing OpenJDK developers about all cases of this nature. Latest Oracle development company news and proposals with Novacom! |
